Major General  Zamani Lekwot (retd.), the chairman of the Retired Army, Navy and Air Force Officers Club, praised President Muhammadu Buhari over his efforts in fighting against the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast.

According to PM News, Lekwot expressed his position when he spoke on Saturday, August 8, at a meeting of the Kaduna state chapter of the association:

“What we need to do is to pray for him [President Buhari] and to support him in any way in terms of encouragement and advice to end the insurgency for peace, unity and stability.

“I believe President Buhari is a seasoned professional, intelligent and also our colleague who has the country at heart, so we need to supported

He further said that the retired officers were now advisers on national issues, adding that they were fully ready to assist the government.

Brigadier General Tai Pedro, another retired officer who was speaking at the event, noted that one of their association’s achievements was the settlement of its members’ pensions.

He characterized the association as a symbol of national unity, with its members committed to sharing views on the national development of the country.
