On August 16, Sunday, hunters and members
of a vigilance group killed 100 members of
the Boko Haram sect and apprehended 17
suspected members of the terrorist group in
the Madagali area of Adamawa state.
The Punch reports that the killings followed
the raiding of Madagali, Michika and Mubi
during which the hunters rescued over 280
women and children.
It was reported that during the exchange of
gunshots, three local hunters were injured and
rushed to Madagali General Hospital for
medical treatment.
Earlier, 200 youths had been recruited and
were given special training to face the dreaded
group operating in the area.
When contacted, Othman Abubakar, the police
public relations officer of Adamawa state
command, said that he was aware of the
killings, adding that he was still waiting for
the official confirmation from the divisional
police officer in the area.
